Our mission
At URSA, we work to be the preferred energy savings and acoustic comfort partner in the construction business for glass mineral wool and extruded polystyrene (XPS), driven by commercial excellence, the most efficient supply chain and the passion of our team.
A bright future for insulation
Europe is a world leader and benchmark in energy efficiency. This is due to high awareness of environmental protection, energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, strong political action in the field and high energy dependency.
URSA is in the middle of the action, offering the best solution – high-performance insulation materials – to achieve the nearly zero-energy goal.
The future is even more challenging, but is also full of opportunities. As predicted by the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive recast beginning December 2020, all new buildings should be nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEBs). And this superior level of energy performance can only be achieved through substantial use of thermal insulation.
Building renovation – a “must” with incredible potential
The incredible potential of building renovation is key to meeting the European plan of reducing CO2 emissions by 80 to 95% by 2050. URSA’s products offer a high-performance insulation, making possible the renovation of existing buildings to a nearly zero-energy standard. This solution offers immense potential for energy savings and reducing CO2 emissions.
Attaining European targets before 2050 is only possible if Europe’s existing building stock is intensively renovated during the next few decades. New buildings account for only roughly 1% of total housing stock in Europe annually.
URSA is in the middle of the action, offering the best solution – high-performance insulation materials – to achieve the nearly zero-energy goal.

Working together
URSA streghtens its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability
URSA’s commitment to social, financial and environmental sustainability is strongly linked to its corporate values. The company does not conceive its activity without a clear and strong focus towards sustainable development.
On the one hand, all of URSA’s departments work on the production of materials that increase buildings’ sustainability, energy efficiency and respect for the environment.
In addition, the company continuously supports all the initiatives that promote and work to strengthen the sustainable building and energy efficient renovation sector.
Being aware of the need to give its support to the all the stakeholders in the sector that work with the same aims as the company, URSA cooperates with European bodies, associations, educational institutions and organizations.
Associations we cooperate with
URSA's commitment to social, economic and environmental sustainability is strongly rooted in the company. The company does not conceive its activity without a clear and determined approach towards sustainable development.
On one hand, all URSA operating units work in the manufacture of materials that provide greater sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental respect to the buildings in which they are installed. But in addition, the company continuously supports all those initiatives that encourage and work towards the consolidation of the sustainable building sector and the energy rehabilitation of buildings.
URSA collaborates with entities, associations, educational institutions and organizations throughout Europe, aware that it is necessary to provide support to all agents in the sector who work with the same objectives of the company. As a result of these synergies, the company collaborates with associations such as:
URSA has been collaborating with EuroACE since 2008 and shares with this European association all its objectives that go to help the EU to move towards a more efficient use of energy in buildings. One of the key dimensions of the Energy Union, energy efficiency is the number one solution for the EU to achieve its energy security, economic competitiveness and sustainability goals. EuroACE is committed to help the EU deliver better performing buildings, with a view to achieve by 2050, at EU level, a building stock at nearly zero energy performance level.
URSA is one of the insulation manufacturers participating in the EuroACE. URSA brings expertise on the thermal and acoustic comfort, and the related subjects of health and wellbeing.
EXIBA stands for the European Extruded Polystyrene Insulation Board Association. EXIBA’s is a trade association whose main objective is to transmit the benefits and to defend the position of XPS. We do this using scientific evidence and for the benefit of the end users and society in general.
URSA has been a member of EXIBA since 2002. The company holds a vice-chair position in the association’s Steering Group and also participates in a number of sub-committees and working groups. The member companies together promote the use of XPS in the most challenging applications as well as do common projects, for example – an industry wide Environmental Product Declaration for XPS.
Eurima is the European Insulation Manufacturers Association and represents the interests of all major mineral wool producers throughout Europe. Eurima was established in 1959 to promote improved standards and regulations for the use of insulation materials. More recently, it has developed to reflect the growing environmental concerns of society. Eurima has been at the forefront of the influencers asking for and contributing to the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive in Europe.
URSA has been a member of Eurima since 2002 and is part of all its committees. Together with the rest of the associates, we work on scientific evidence as a basis for a better policy with regards to the energy efficiency, climate change and comfort and health for the end users.
Renovate Europe is a political communications campaign with the ambition to reduce the energy demand of the EU building stock by 80% by 2050 through legislation and ambitious renovation programmes. Accelerating the rate of renovation is a key tool in the fight against climate change, and will deliver major benefits for people, their quality of life, and the economy.
The Campaign was launched in 2011 and URSA is a founding member. URSA has also been collaborating with other member companies in developing the narratives and implementing the actions of the Renovate Europe Campaign.
The World Green Building Council is a global network of Green Building Councils that is transforming the places where we live, work, play, heal and learn. The goal is to help reduce the building and construction sector’s CO2 emissions by 84 gigatonnes and ensure all buildings have net zero emissions by 2050. WGBC believes green buildings can and must be at the centre of our lives. URSA collaborates since 2008 with the Green Building Councils of some European countries. In some cases, such as GBC Spain, it has been one of the founding members that promoted the creation and consolidation of the local Council.
In addition, URSA was one of the main sponsors of the WGBC World Sustainable Building Congress, which took place in Barcelona in 2014 and brought together the main global agents in the sector. The company has also supported projects and concrete initiatives such as the Rehab Working Group (GTR) or the BUILD UPON International Project.
